To achieve their Artsmark Award, we had to develop our arts and cultural provision to embed a broad and ambitious curriculum. This was achieved by creating an overall plan that was committed to and delivered across the whole school.
Over three years Mr Morgan and Mr Mockridge received professional support through an immersive learning programme from Artsmark’s delivery partner, Goldsmiths, University of London, who are world-renowned leaders in creative pedagogy and cultural placemaking.
In their findings, Artsmark stated: 'You have partnerships in place with local artists, Somerset Music and the Octagon Theatre where you are one of their Creative Learning and Education Partners. Creative practitioners have visited to talk about arts careers and you have attended the Octagon’s creative careers workshops. You have increased students' opportunities to perform, running three major productions a year, three concerts and one art exhibition.'
This has been an exciting time for the Arts at Stanchester and we hope to build on this success, aiming for Gold.
