Our aim at Stanchester Academy is for all students to achieve their personal best. In careers education, this translates as every student making well-informed decisions about their future.
Stanchester Careers will:
Careers education is the responsibility of all Stanchester staff, and our pupils can expect advice and guidance from both formal and informal conversations across the school campus. Careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) at Stanchester Academy has four elements:
Careers Education: delivered through the tutor programme, curriculum, and PSHRE to give students the knowledge and skills to make confident choices
Our PSHE / Careers and Citizenship Curriculum, ensures that the key skills and essential knowledge permeate our curriculum from year 7 to year 11, allowing our pupils to make links in their learning as well as develop the ability to think more deeply about what they are learning.
All teachers include careers into their lessons and develop student’s employability skills. Staff have access to a wide range of resources on the school Intranet to showcase careers in their subject lessons.

We work in partnership with the Somerset Careers Hub and Stanchester Academy are implementing and evaluated on the Gatsby Foundation’s eight Career Benchmarks of good practice. We are currently at 100% in all areas.

Stanchester Academy has the benefit of a key business volunteer who works with us on a strategic level, encouraging the development of our careers programme and connecting us to the business community across the county. This role is recognised nationally as an Enterprise Adviser (EA) and they are part of the Somerset Careers Hub community of support driving the connection between careers education and the business sector. As part of our careers programme we signpost pupils and parents to CAREER PILOT to access up to date information about the labour market and employability skills.

The Somerset Careers Hub have launched a selection of Padlets to support students.
Students & Parents/Carers : This Padlet is designed for students, parents & carers. It contains information such as open days, along with local opportunities and support for students, parents & carers on the transition to Post 16 & Post 18.
